Lots of inspiration to be found over at The Book Cover Archive. Looks pretty new with only about 800 covers at the time of this writing. It actually should be called the MODERN Book Cover Archive as there are no books before 1981. Hardly an archive but still pretty good.

Here is yet another way to ruin your day’s productivity, durn it. Ted Staunton’s 78 RPM Record Labels. There are labels going all the way back to the early 1900’s and proceed up to the ’60’s. I myself would show you all the ones I like but I am trying to get some work done if that is OK with you. Sheesh.

Holly kay-wrap! Here is an awesome collection of a bunch of large corporation logos and how they have changed since the companies began. This is pretty sweet (and comes to us via Metafilter).

Holy awesome collections, Batman! tapedeck.org has a huge collection of analog cassette tapes that can be browsed by brand, time length, and quality. I was a vinyl guy back in the 80’s so whenever I would get my new Oingo Boingo or Surf Punks LP, I would immediately record them to cassette so that I could “rock out” to them in the car or whatever portable device was around. Usually I did it on this little guy right here or possibly this one. I had freakin’ boxes of ‘em. Don’t see your brand? Submit your own!

Here is a great collection of high-res scans of security patterns found on envelopes. I find the idea of collecting something that is so diverse yet virtually ignored pretty great.

I about had a full on designgasm when I saw this amazing collection of vintage luggage labels from Tom Schifanella. So very cool.

You can search by band or by the designer. They also have a place to sell posters and other music merch. I did a quick search for Modest Mouse and came up with 145 posters. Some are super cool too:
