World Highest Bakery

Everest Bakery

No, not the highest because of the amount of weed they put in the brownies. Get your face out of your bong.

There is a great story about on the BBC about a sherpa who has been guiding on Everest for over twenty-five years who has started a bakery at the Everest base camp…17,552 feet up! Can you imagine trying to bake at that altitude? I cant even make chocolate chip cookies in Tahoe that turn out right. Apparently, all the profits are going to a trust fund helping local villages prepare for the worst effects of climate change. Pretty neat if you ask me. As long as they don't let Starbuck's in…

Ukulele Week Holdover: Ukulele Love-In

Monday, 05 May 2008 17:26

Bill blah blahs:

what, with all this ukulele stuff and no 'ukulele love-in'???

Sorry, BB. My mistake. I am holding over "Ukulele Week" just for you. I now present Bosko & Honey with "Samidare". Sorry it's not the one you sent, Bill. I just like the music in this one better even though I loathe the soft focus. More here.

Keyboards 'Dirtier Than a Toilet'

Thursday, 01 May 2008 10:26

It appears that a study conducted in England found that the thing that most of us touch with our fingers for many hours during the day is not as clean as the thing we touch with our ass for just a few minutes in the morning after coffee.

Out of 33 keyboards swabbed, four were regarded as a potential health hazard and one harbored five times more germs than one of the office's toilet seats."

All I can say is…ew. And, I am not that surprised. Also from the article:

They also found that, compared to men, on average women have three to four times the amount of germs in, on and around their work area."

Again: Ew. And - not that surprised. Everyone knows knows that the amount of cooties on a woman massively outweigh the amount of cooties on a man. I do not need science to tell me that.

Lesbos Islanders Dispute Gay Name

Thursday, 01 May 2008 09:39

Can't the Lesbos and the Lesbians just get along?

In court papers, the plaintiffs allege that the Greek government is so embarrassed by the term Lesbian that it has been forced to rename the island after its capital, Mytilini."

Ukulele Week: GUGUG

Sunday, 27 April 2008 11:58

I have been pretty stressed the last couple of weeks what with crapped out hard drives and missing photos. It feels like there is a two-by-four stretched across my back because my shoulders are so stiff.

So I declare this week Ukulele Week here at BPH because it is hard to be stressed out when you see folks rocking out on tiny little stringed instruments.

First up is a couple of Scottish guys (Gus and Fin) that I saw posted on BoingBoing a couple of days ago rocking out a great rendition of the Ramones "Blitzkrieg Bop". I checked out their YouTube page and found this other one that I liked too: "What Do I Get?" the classic by the Buzzcocks.
