Boston Public Library Travel Posters
The Boston Public library has posted an amazing collection of old travel posters on Flickr. I have seen other collections of travel posters but each one in this collection is especially top notch. Here are a few I like:
The Enamored Whale by Albert Cerriteno
What a beautiful letterpress print from Albert Cerriteno.
It is a three color 8.5″ by 11″ print in an addition of 250. It is a mere $20 bucks. That is a steal my friends. Check out the detail…
Go get it! Hurry! There are only 70 in stock as of this posting.

UPDATE: Sold out! If you snoozed, you lose.
Over 40: August, 2009
Went to Roller Derby in Eureka again. Good times! Spent a bunch of time working around the house and getting the garden into shape. Went on a three day backpacking trip into the Trinity Alps. Got a sweet sunburn, too. Other than that it was nothing but work. Not too many good photos. Sorry. Kinda in a bit of a funk lately.

Gläce Luxury Ice Co.
Ballin‘!! Destined to be the leader in the ‘premium ice market’ – a market that DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST – Gläce Luxury Ice Co. makes ‘perfectly spherical’ 2.5″ spherical ice cubes. Because most ice that the rest of us plebeians are forced to put in our beverages contain ‘minerals, additives, and other pollutants’, the ‘cubes’ are made out of purified water so as not to soil your Appletini or fine chardonnay with an off flavor.
And don’t forget that the spherical shape of Gläce Luxury Ice “…allows differentiation for those consuming a premium drink from those with less discerning tastes.” That means that you can drop one of these babies into your 600 year-old single-malt Glen-named scotch and feel confident enough to look down your nose and scoff at anyone in the bar who has used multiple square ice cubes (*snort*) to cool their beverages. Oh, the underclasses and their shoddy cooling ingredients!
Honestly, I have nothing against spherical ice and have used the homemade variety before but did I mention that five of the Gläce Luxury Ice spheres run $40? That is $8 a piece for those unwilling to do the math. We can’t all have the superior taste that this gentleman (or this gentleman) obviously has but an eight dollar hunk of frozen water in our heavily marketed premium vodka will inform others that you do indeed have a superior palate and that you yourself are “ballin'” above those around you.
Or you can just go buy these for $16 and make all you want…
Two Weeks – Grizzly Bear (SMA)
This is a beautifully created fan-created video for the song ‘Two Weeks’ by the band Grizzly Bear. The song already has an official video but this one by Gabe Askew is just plain great.

“How it would be, if a house was dreaming”
Just. Plain. Trippy.

The QLOCKTWO Clock by Biegert & Funk
I dig the QLOCKTWO text-only clock from Biegert & Funk. It comes in six colors and six different languages. It will only set you back about $1,300. Might as well get two, right?
Or you can get the iPhone app for $.99.

Be Consistant – REVISED
Remember that post about the timeline of both Pepsi and Coca-Cola logos? Well, there is an update…
Still interesting…

The Oops Design Award Nominees 2009
The Oops Design Award is not an honorable award as most design awards are. The award is presented to, “… the ugliest, silliest and most useless products completed and manufactured.” Awards are voted upon by the membership of the ODAF and this membership is openly available to the public.

Over 40 – July 2009
Another fine and busy month. In July, we had many visitors to the Robu and they all came in the same week. I went on a “Team Building” exercise for work that included horses. I pulled my electric guitar and amp out for the first time in over five years and guess what? I STILL suck. I made a paper craft taco truck and I am STILL getting angry with the slobs at work who leave their dirty dishes in the sink. K. and I went to Montana for an incredible vacation in the mountains where we hiked, canoed and relaxed. I also went to the redwoods of California to see two good friends get married. *whew*
