Be Consistant – REVISED
Remember that post about the timeline of both Pepsi and Coca-Cola logos? Well, there is an update…
Still interesting…

The Oops Design Award Nominees 2009
The Oops Design Award is not an honorable award as most design awards are. The award is presented to, “… the ugliest, silliest and most useless products completed and manufactured.” Awards are voted upon by the membership of the ODAF and this membership is openly available to the public.

Ink Calendar by Oscar Diaz
It’s too bad this is only a prototype but it is still pretty cool nonetheless.
The ink is absorbed slowly, and the numbers in the calendar are “printed” daily. One a day, they are filled with ink until the end of the month. A calendar self-updated, which enhances the perception of time passing and not only signaling it.

Solar Hybrid VW Westfalia Camper by Alexandre Verdier
I am begining to hate the word “eco-friendly” but I am gonna give this custoized VW bus by Alexandre Verdier a pass. It has a bio-diesel hybrid engine, sun tracking solar panels, a media center and Wi-Fi. Apparently he is looking for a partner to actually put these into production at $69,000 a pop.
Yes, please!

Top Secret Diet from Lunchbreath
Yes. This works. A nice illustration from Lunchbreath.
Light Test
light-test.com collects the lighting tests that photographers make before taking their final shots. Somtimes it will be an assistant standing in place of the actual subject. Other times it will be the subject. Since they are considered throwaway photos you will often get pictures of people doing strange things or making weird faces like Steven Spielberg is doing above.
Papercraft Taco Trucks
I love my mobile mexican food. Many people do. Over on Flickr you can download these great papercraft templates to honor your favorite mobile food. They really work, too.

Two aliens learn a valuble lesson when trying to take over the same planet.
Danger Dog Signs From Nepal
Captivated by the hand painted metal “Beware of Dog” signs that she saw all over Nepal, Michelle Page decided to start Danger Dogs from Nepal. Just send her a photo of your pup (or cat, or bird, or goat, etc) and she will have one of the numerous Nepalese artists the she has befriended recreate your pet as a Danger Dog.
Cost is a mere $250 per sign plus shipping. From your photograph, Michelle will commission three paintings from three different Nepalese artists. You chose the one you want. The other two are sold on-line and in a few galleries. This is a great deal and really helps artists in need.
“American Dogs, Nepali Jobs” has become her slogan– even though her project is international in scope as she has had orders from Canada, Denmark, England, Bangladesh, France, Switzerland and Jordan. “This project is about keeping the artists’ dignity and giving work to the artists — keeping art as a viable profession in this digital age. Signboard artists are under-appreciated. It is a dying art in one of the last places on earth where it is still widely practiced. This project shows the broad spectrum of talents in Nepal.”
We may have to this for Hurley…

Saturday Morning Animation – Manifestations
Dollar Bill Collages by Mark Wagner
Mark Wagner is an artist who understands the hidden beauty in the often overlooked one dollar bill. He manages to take the great features of the American dollar bill and cuts them up and rearranges the pieces into incredible art pieces. (He even takes meticulous notes on each project. Seriously.)
“The one dollar bill is the most ubiquitous piece of paper in America. Collage asks the question: what might be done to make it something else? It is a ripe material: intaglio printed on sturdy linen stock, covered in decorative filigree, and steeped in symbolism and concept. Blade and glue transform it-reproducing the effects of tapestries, paints, engravings, mosaics, and computers-striving for something bizarre, beautiful, or unbelievable… the foreign in the familiar.”
This man really knows his way around an xacto knife that is for sure…
I recommend going to his site to check ’em all out and wreck an hour or so like I did.

Saturday Morning Animation – Fallen
I really don’t know anything about this little animation. It’s very well done and…well…I don’t want to give you any spoilers but it can be viewed as kinda sad. I like it though.
