Keith Haring Shoes – “Ew boy.”

9 Feb 2010, 11:30pm

Kieth Haring has been dead for 20 years and they decide to drop these shoes? Simply awful.

Saturday Morning Animation – Codehunters

6 Feb 2010, 8:14pm

Sometimes certain animation shorts make me feel like I have the sensibilities of a 15 year old. This piece does that. But it is worth it. And I am OK with who I am.

January. 2010.

Is it, “Twenty-ten”, or “Two-thousand ten”?

Who cares.

Anyway we were in Mexico for a bit. That was great and very much needed. After that it was back to work. I did manage to finish and send out my annual mix CD (a DOUBLE this year!) which was great. Bought a wonderful ukulele from Wildwood Music in Arcata, CA. (Thanks for the great deal, E.P.!) Saw Avatar. The only thing I can say about it is, “Why are the pretty ones so dumb?” The script and story were SO phoned in. Also I began the process of framing the eight pieces of artwork that have been accumulating over the last year. I also sent five business envelope shaped photographs to a random stranger from the Friends of Tom message board. I hope they enjoyed them. (The person who was supposed to send me something never did. Lame.)

Had a COLD beginning to the month. Had a pipe freeze and everything so we were without hot water for a day. At least it didn’t break. Spent a lot of time indoors due to the weather but did get out for a hike on the old birthday. (42 bitches!) And we also went to Mexico for the new year.

CD Artwork by Hubero Kororo

29 Jan 2010, 12:03pm

This comes to me from designer and internet friend @Spoony_C. It is uniquely beautiful CD packaging by Hubero Kororo for Uceroz’s newest CD Pappeltalks. When you open the CD, a packet of ink saturates the inside of the front cover to create a unique experience for everyone as well as a one-of-a-kind cover. It really is a great idea sublimely achieved. As Spoony said, it is inspiring.

Watch it in action…

SO good.

Here is a gallery of some of the results.

Kii Arens’ Radiohead Haiti Relief Poster

26 Jan 2010, 12:30pm

Radiohead had a benefit concert in LA last weekend to raise money for Haiti. They raised an amazing $572,754. There is a limited edition poster by Kii Arens of the event selling for $75 over at www.lalalandposters.com. Al proceeds go to OXFAM. Go get one. I did. Or just donate. (Note: This is a second edition of 250. The first edition of 100 sold out at lightning speed so do not wait on this. Just do it.)

UPDATE: The second edition has the RED background; The first edition has the YELLOW background. (Thanks commenter Neil!)

Already donated? DONATE AGAIN.

(poster via OMG Posters)

(Note: I just found out today that an old surfing friend of mine from Humboldt lost his fiance in the colapsed Hotel Montana in Haiti. He is there now trying to find her. Thinking of you, Eric…)

UPDATE: Received mine in the mail yesterday. Looks like I was quick enough to get a yellow one. It is BEAUTIFUL! The stock is unbelievably thick. The red ones are still available and even though the price is a bit steep, it is worth it. It will only increase in value too. People are already selling these on Ebay.

Saturday Morning Animation – Alma

19 Dec 2009, 10:51am

Rodrigo Blaas and his animators did a really great job capturing facial gestures in this short. I loved the way she drops her shoulders walking into the shop when she sees what she is looking for. It is subtle and perfect. Great twist at the end too.

November. Not too much to say. Lots of time with the dogs. Went to a lion feeding which was AWESOME! My ankle issue flared up again. Someone at work left HALF a doughnut on the common table for three days. (C’mon, slobs.) Blew out my front bike tire in a very embarrassing way. (DM me for details.) Got my resume together enough where I am comfortable for others to see. Went to Eureka for Thanksgiving which was great because Penny had her first days at the beach.
