Saturday Morning Animation – Shake Ya Boogie
A video for the song Shake Ya Boogie by Mocean Worker. Video by Czarek Kwaśny
Coraline
Oooooh! This looks quite good. Quite the flashy website, too, that has a bunch of hidden stuff worth rooting around for. If you got some time, go poke around.
It is directed by Neil Gaiman who also directed The Nightmare Before Christmas. I will be seeing this in the theater fo’ sho’.
The creators also are behind a pretty bitchin’ viral marketing campaign. They made and sent out fifty individual customized boxes filled with things from the movie and sent them to various blogs. Here are some links to a some of the lucky bloggers and their respective posts about receiving their treasure:
emmyymme, tomopop, Darkmatters, Toycutter, Kissthelibrarian, fashion-pirahna, stainlesssteeldroppings
Pretty cool viral marketing if you ask me.

A great video of an elegant new twist on the airship. I believe this is an actual timed race filmed at the World Air Games. Get yours and we’ll race!
Saturday Morning Animation – Das Rad (The Wheel)
New thing. Going to post some killer animation every Saturday morning. I know. “A regular post” thing. Can I do it? Probably not.
First up is the Germany’s, Das Rad, a 2003 Academy Award nominee for best short. Love it!

Everything comes together beautifully in this short video shot at a monster truck rally. Yes. A monster truck rally. Trust me in the fact that it is awesome. Using time lapse photography and and tilt-shift lenses, Keith Loutit creates a toy-like world out of it. (His other time lapse/tilt-shift videos are worth viewing too.)
I don’t know exactly where this was filmed but I am sure it was on a ‘SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!!!’
Why America is F*cked (Graphically at Least)
(Whole lot of appropriate swearing in the video above. Might not be safe for work if you work in a cube.)
I have been meaning to post this. I have watched it about twelve times. This is a little rant by Aaron Draplin founder and proprietor of Draplin Design Co., North America. He is a designer with a passion for industrial designs of the past and and the designs of blue collar industries. He has a great eye. He knows what has heart and what doesn’t. He has a Dachshund named Gary. He swears like a sailor and damn him if he isn’t 100% right in this video. I am thinking that all designers should make a video like this and fight the idiots who can’t see the art or intrinsic value in a professional designer and have the idea that designers just push a bunch buttons all day without skill or talent. I deal with this crap all day.
Way to go, Aaron. Drop shadows, not bombs.
Exploding Banana Face
William Lamson does some crazy beautiful stuff. I love it.
PES’ Western Spaghetti
Awesome stop-motion video from PES. I urge you to check out the rest of their videos if you have not seen them. Very creative stuff.
Subliminal Advertising
Proof that subliminal advertising works…even on the douchebags who create it.
